DS2-based Powerline Communication (PLC) systems from Corinex enable off-the-shelf home networking option for Greek Operator OTE's IPTV subscribers

Valencia, 22 March, 2010 - DS2, a leading technology innovator and global supplier of high-speed powerline silicon, announced today that OTE, the largest Service Provider in Greece, has chosen the HomeNet HD200Mbps system from Corinex based on DS2's 200Mbps Aitana++ integrated circuit (IC) as the off-the shelf home networking option for its “conn-x TV” IPTV service customers.

conn-x TV , launched by OTE in February 2009, is now available in over 60 cities throughout Greece. The service offers more than 40 thematic Greek and international television channels, VoD, as well as Time Shifted TV and Personal Video Recording options. A pair of HomeNet HD200Mbps from Corinex Communications powered by DS2's Aitana++ powerline ICs allow conn-x TV subscribers to create a high-speed in-home network without the need for new cabling. Subscribers just connect the Corinex adapters to any electrical outlets to extend the conn-x TV signal to any television at home. The DS2-based powerline adapters deliver IPTV service to any location in the house that is not close to OTE’s conn-x router.
 
DS2's Aitana ++ IC was designed for the demanding nature of service provider IPTV applications. It offers a maximum PHY data transfer rate of 200Mbps, guaranteed quality of service and the ability to avoid 'noise' on the powerline. Powered by DS2´s SPIRIT firmware, Aitana ++ IC provides advanced capabilities, such as TR069-compliant remote management, enabling Service Providers to remotely manage and troubleshoot devices in the subscriber's home network. The programmable Quality of Service (QoS) feature of the DS2 Aitana++ ensures that voice and video services get higher priority than data services for maximum and error-free performance.
